Getting involved in your community is an easy way to feel more fulfilled, especially during colder, quieter months of the year. But sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start in the Muskoka and Kawartha Lakes regions. In response to clients asking for our help in this regard, we once again tapped into our considerable network for top suggested 2024 organizations  to volunteer within your community:

Rick suggests Muskoka Steamships and Discovery Centre  - especially given the recently expanded exhibits. Rob highly recommends Habitat for Humanity, Carol suggests Gravenhurst Against Poverty while several others have suggested the Manna Foodbank and our local Ontario Humane Society, Friends of the Muskoka Watershed, and Muskoka Conservancy. Larry recommends volunteering at the Sturgeon Point Golf Club!

We've volunteered for years at The Muskoka Lakes Association on both Committees and the Board and can't recommend the experience highly enough. This organization is always ready to welcome volunteer water testers, proofreaders, and leaders to help with membership and communications, community events (Annual Regatta, Antique Boat Show), the environment and more.

This past summer we met Mitch Alexander-Brant of Feast and Fusion Food Services  at a most delicious breakfast he catered and learned that he and his partners Adam and Vincent founded Feeding FenelonAs part of their mission to Take Care of Each Other, they prepare a weekly free community meal at Lotus Indian Bistro . As an important aside we highly recommend this restaurant which serves both take out and dine in.

Plus, every year we head to Kawartha Settlers' Village in Bobcaygeon where volunteer opportunities include helping with camp & school visists, the craft beer and food festival and more! Whether you are looking to share a skill or follow your passion you can find additional volunteer opportunities for both Kawartha Lakes and Muskoka Region online

We are always happy to set up a time to chat about how you can become more involved in your cottage country community! We will make a personal introduction to any organization that interests you, fits your stage in life and matches up with how much time you have to offer.  Contact Susan now>>
